The leader of the Genesis brand is back in 2021 and as always offers the luxurious ride that buyers have come to expect. The Genesis G90 offers two engine options, a twin-turbocharged V-6 comes standard but customers have the option of a 5.0-liter V-8. Either way you go, the Genesis G90 will offer you a luxurious ride without sacrificing power and still be best in class when it comes to the price tag (MSRP $72,950).
2021 Genesis G90 Overview
The 2021 G90 gets a major interior upgrade as Genesis has decided to go with genuine leather over the pleather that has been in previous iterations of the car. The infotainment goes unchanged other than some improved voice recognition. This year’s G90, however, has received some significant upgrades aside from the decision to go with authentic leather, the straight dashboard, analog clock, wood and metal trimmings really make the car feel like you are driving a high-end luxury brand. The infotainment system also accents the vehicle well and the driver will be treated to a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen that includes Apple Car Play and Android Auto. There are packages available that will offer entertainment screens attached to the front seats for rear-passenger entertainment.
Interior
The G90 comes standard with heated and cooled front seats. The drivers seat adjusts 22 ways and the front passenger’s adjusting 16 ways. The rear passengers will also have a pleasant experience with 37-inches of leg room which is more than most vehicles in this class and they will also have the opportunity to have their own control panel in the back that allows them to recline, heat, and cool their seats.
Performance
If we were to give some advice on which engine to go ahead with, we would say stick to the twin-turbo V-6 as the engine is not lacking in power and quickness and is overall very similar to the V-8 but will knock some money off the purchase price. Our advice is to not get to caught up in engine size. In Car and Driver’s testing there was no difference in time on the 0-60 test and at $2500 more it is simply better to save the money and put that towards improvements elsewhere. Whatever engine you choose to go with, remember that there is plenty of power available for all driving situations. You should remember that you are not going to be buying the G90 for its speed or agility but for the luxurious, limousine type ride that it has become known for.
Exterior
The exterior of the 2021 G90 will be relatively unchanged from the 2020 edition. It will keep the hexagonal shaped grill and the LED lights on the front and rear. The only new option that buyers will receive this time around is some wheel options that were not available in years past. Although this may seem menial, the 2021 G90 will have “Genesis” stamped on the trunk which helps someone to not confuse it with Bentley who also uses a similar winged logo.
Safety
As for safety, the Genesis G90 does not disappoint. It comes equipped with plenty of active safety features such as automatic braking with pedestrian detection. The adaptive cruise control can restart from a stop and you will be treated to cameras all around your vehicle that will assist you in backing and parking. The NHTSA has not crash tested the G90 as of October 2020 but has given a preliminary score of good across the board. The standard features of blind sport warning and blind spot camera really boost the G90’s driving safety rating. The adaptive cruise control allows for the vehicle to recognize slowing vehicles in front, slow down, and then return to the set speed once the slower traffic has cleared.

GENESIS ANNOUNCES RECORD OCTOBER SALES
Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the past year and all of the things we are thankful for. This year, Genesis of Edmond is thankful to have contributed to a record number of Genesis sales in October 2019. It has been an exciting journey watching the Genesis brand grow this year and we are grateful to be a part of it!
This October Genesis reported a record sales number of 1,935 vehicles sold. This is a whopping 420 percent increase from the number of Genesis vehicles sold a year ago in October 2018. The October 2019 sales were led by the award-winning G70 luxury sport sedan.

THE AWARD WINNING GENESIS G70 LUXURY SPORT SEDAN
On July 2, 2019, Genesis Motor America reported sales of 10,007 G70 sedans for the first two quarters of 2019. This marked a 38 percent increase in sales when compared to 2018. The G70 Luxury Sport Sedan is mainly responsible for Genesis’ success.
It’s no surprise given that the G70 is a highly-competitive luxury vehicle that outperforms legacy luxury sport sedans with driver-focused performance. Genesis may only be a 3-year-old brand, but it is already making big waves. This year Genesis once again ranked highest in the 2019 J.D. Power quality scorecard, scoring 63 problems reported per 100 vehicles, an improvement from its 2018 score of 68 problems per 100 vehicles.
This ranking is a remarkable accomplishment for Genesis considering more brands dropped this year instead of improving in ranking in the heavily monitored Initial Quality Study released June 19, 2019, at the Automotive Press Association.
The 2019 Initial Quality Study is determined by the results of a 233 question survey across eight vehicle categories and is completed by 76,256 buyers and lessees of new 2019 models. Dave Sargent, the vice president of global automotive at the 2019 J.D. Power awards, said there are several underlying reasons for Genesis’ consecutive reign, including its user-friendly technology that is easy for consumers to operate and understand.
According to Sargent, Korean brands like Genesis are adept at “understanding exactly what consumers want in their vehicles and delivering just that.”

The Electric and Exuberating Genesis Essentia Concept is here. This sleekly built vehicle holds sharp lines and deep detail. The vision of the Genesis Essentia is to not only connect with the driver, but to also connect the future of Genesis with an elegant design. Possibly featuring electric motors and an I-shaped battery pack, the concept vehicle opened eyes at its reveal.
Revealed at the New York Auto Show, the hope is that being built with lightweight carbon-fiber monocoque and electric powertrain can allow for a low profile and GT proportions. Breaking down the new Genesis even further, the hood is transparent, connects to the windshield to finally flow into the roof and brushed cabin.
Smaller features that are to have been seen during the reveal are the air outlets behind the front wheels to help reduce pressure strain, butterfly doors that initiate by fingerprint sensors, leather seats, voice-recognition technology presented in the Genesis Intelligent Assistant, and copper accent dressed on the vehicle from nose to end.
2017 GENESIS G90 RECEIVES TOTAL QUALITY AWARD
The awards keep stacking for Genesis. The 2017 Genesis G90 won a Total Quality Award (TQI) as the highest quality vehicle in the luxury car segment by car buyers in Strategic Vision’s annual Total Quality Impact report based on results from its New Vehicle Experience Study. In addition, the 2017 Genesis G90 received the third-highest TQI score in the entire industry. Not bad for its first year in the U.S. market.
